"Hello Dummy" (Warner Bros. Records)
Oboy puck fans, this is the ride you need. 'Hello Dummy,' recorded live at the Sahara in 1968, is a delicious slice and dice tour de force in the court of the Master. Shredding every race, creed, and religion on the planet with NASA-like precision, Rickles is at the top of his game. The Insult as Art. In lines like "If it weren't for the Mexicans, we wouldn't have filth," and "these are the the jokes, lady -- if you're waiting for Billy Graham to come out, forget about it," Rickles reduces his audience, and you, eager listener, to a wimpering mess. And in case you morons need to be reminded, THESE ARE JOKES. If you don't think "you gotta be a Jew, lady -- you're the only one with a stole on and it's 105 degrees in here" is funny, you'd better put that Natalie Merchant CD back into your deck, pull out the dolphin-safe Froogies and stay inside. You're gonna get hurt. Saying that 'Hello Dummy' is funny is like saying the Nile is long, Mt. Rushmore big or Houston a good town for getting loaded. NO KIDDING. This, my friends, is drive-off-the-road funny.

Buy "Hello Dummy", on Warner Brothers from Tower Records.

"Don Rickles Speaks" is the follow up album also on Warner Brothers Records. This is a tough find! However if you link on over to The Sound Net and you'll get the help of experts and soon you may just be spinning the only copy in your 'hood. If you find it, let us know!
